what a difference a day makes

It’s amazing what can be done in a day when it absolutely has to be done! We got a call day before yesterday from a real estate agent to stage a Studio City home on very short notice — less than 24 hours, to be exact. What followed was a whirlwind of activity: choosing which furniture and accessories to bring to a home we needed to stage the next day, and making sure it was all packed and ready to go early the next morning.

What started out as an empty, dreary property turned into a cozy and charming cottage, ready for someone to move in and love it! Getting right to work, we accented the aqua painted walls in the living room with a caramel-colored camel back sofa and mocha tub chairs. We flanked the sofa with fresh white lamps sporting cottage-style shades. Dual leather ottomans stand in for a coffee table. The marble fireplace and painted wood mantel needed just the right accent pieces to make them shine. We chose a vintage-global mix. Original vintage oil paintings, soft throws and stacks of books in baskets further warm up the room.

A colonial-meets-modern dining room, casual den and vintage detailed bathrooms round out the home. For this staging, our client didn’t need us to decorate the bedrooms, so we just hung some bright curtains and let the hardwood floors gleam. The kitchen was treated to a rustic bowl of green apples and a stack of cookbooks — simple decor to accent the granite counter tops.
