staging for the modern world
Our most recent home staging projects have afforded us multiple opportunities to get our modern style on big-time. First, a Mid Century modern gem of a family home in La Canada, second, a three-story modern bachelor pad built on a Pasadena hillside, and third, a classic MCM condo in the famed Pasadena San Pasqual complex, the location used as Luke Wilson’s apartment in the HBO series Enlightened.
La Canada MCM Family Home
What better complement to a glass on glass dining table than iconic modern Panton S chairs and a couple of Eames molded plywood head chairs? A stretched piece of Marrimekko fabric hangs above a modern buffet.
The built-in kitchen desk just begged for a white Saarinen style chair and jolts of bright color.
A pair of modern lounge chairs and a cowhide rug in the family room.
Pasadena Modern Bachelor Pad:
Two Barcelona chairs, a Saarinen side table and an arc lamp = modern perfection. Art by Stephen Rowe.
A modern white lacquer credenza needs only a few coffee table books and a touch of the natural world, in this case, a burled wood knot and a piece of driftwood.
Bright tangerine chairs in the breakfast nook.
More abstract art by Stephen Rowe and a cowhide rug in the living room.
The dining room’s custom metal and glass table is the perfect foil for simple white and wood chairs and arresting art.
A white plaster chihuahua is a playful nod.
In the master bedroom, the Rowe original with Aboriginal influences inspired the dark gray and red scheme. Ottomans at foot of bed by Target.
The family room is mostly white…
… which we accented with touches of bright green.
A guest bedroom off the kitchen shares the same bright orange hue.
A Classic MCM Apartment:
A Mid Century modern style sectional from HD Buttercup in LA pairs with a graphic maze pattern rug and wire Bertoia style chairs.
In the background, IKEA’s STRANDMON wing chair, a re-issued classic and a leaning bookcase.
The bedroom’s painted headboard proves that DIY projects can have a huge impact on a tight budget.
